Abstract

A clinical follow-up study and short literature review was made for a case of developed hyperfunction of gastric antrum following vagotomy and gastrojejunostomy in patient who had been perforated duodenal ulcer during the past 4 years from June 1964 to July 1968, at Wallace Memorial Baptist Hospital, Pusan.
In spite of vagotomy and gastrojejunostomy in patient who is duodenal ulcer, if gastric juice is increased, may be suspected as incomplete gastric vagotomy or a high lying gastrojejunostomy stoma is loacted on the fundus of the stomach.
In this follow-up study, we experienced the fact that a complete vagotomy to abolish the nervous phase of gastric secretion produce a prolongation of the antrum or humoral phase of gastric secretion because of stasis of food in the stomach due to the decrease of motility and tonus and a high lying gastrojejunostomy produce stimulation of gastric secretion due to inadequate drainage from the antrum.
